Natural Beaded Row Hair Artist | Getting From Point A To Point B

Getting from point A to point B in a session is extensive, but so worth it. On today’s post, I’m going to share the entire process!

To begin, we asses our guest’s hair with what we call “the consultation”. This is pretty standard!

Each client has very different needs, and I like to do a thorough consultation beforehand so, #1 we are on the same page, #2 we can have an honest conversation about your hair and goals and #3 I want my clients to know whats going on, and what the process is all about.

With Jaime, pictured, I noticed she had a lot of depth, which means she has dark streaks throughout her hair. The contrast she has is so stunning! However, notice the top of her head is very dark. While a smudged root is trendy, it’s starting to look like what we call a black hole. I want to bring some lightness through there to brighten it up a bit!

What it’s like for a guest when they’re in my chair:

I try to keep my colors very simple, attacking one problem at a time. There’s no need to overwhelm the client!

So with Jamie, I went through her entire head and did foil highlights with lightener. I don’t like to say I did a more chunky foil because that reminds me of Kelly Clarkson circa 2007, you know the American Idol days…

But I did a Chunky foil to create that balayage look. Next was the money piece (the bright fringe in her hair) foils. In this area, I use only 4 to 6 foils and I do baby fine highlights.

After the lightener lifted to a color I liked, I rinsed smudged her roots with hair color to create a soft melty look and toned her highlights to this beautiful color I had envisioned for her.

It’s Extensions Time

At the salon we use hand-tied hair, we have a variety of colors, and mix them together to create natural-looking extensions, I chose 3 colors. A brown, a Dark Blonde and a Light Blonde.

We did 2 rows of extensions and rooted the extensions to match her roots to give it a seamless blend. I beaded, placed the hair and stitched away! The bottom row had a brown and dark blonde to match the natural darkness in her hair, and the top row had a mix of brown, dark blonde and light blonde to create that sun-kissed look.

After it was all in place, I cut away at the Hair extensions to blended everything together.
Our Clients at Dkw Styling Salon are typically In and Out in 4 hours! Although that may seem like a long time, it’s a special experience here at the salon.

Thanks for checking in on the blog!
