Natural Beaded Row Hair Artist | Where Is Cortney?

Oh hey there! It’s been a minute! Those of you who follow me on social media, probably know that I have officially moved to Orange County to pursue my dream in becoming a DKW NBR instructor! But before I let you know how that is going, let’s rewind a bit…

I’m Cortney Riegel, a hair artist born and raised in the college town, Chico, California! After I lived in LA for two years, I decided to come back home and build up my clientele in Chico. While I was in LA, I worked at a blow dry bar called, BLO, and that is where I learned all about extensions. This time of my life was called my “research days”. I absorbed everything like a sponge!

During the same time, I worked at a salon down the street called Remix, and here, I mostly did cuts and color, but still continued to learn about extensions and weaves. Back to Chico! When I moved back, I had several people calling me asking about extensions, and I wanted to find something that was similar to a weave, but for people with fine hair, (like myself!)!

If you can believe it, I did even MORE research, and thank goodness I did because I stumbled across Danielle White & Natural Beaded Rows! To put it lightly… I was in love. Before I committed to a class, I followed her for 2 years, going crazy over this amazing technique.

I applied to go to a convention, but never received a response! I think I was too late… but soon after, I received an email about intensives and I responded SO quickly! Thankfully, I got in one, out of 8, and ever since that day, it has been fantastic. Learning and growing has been so exciting.

To say this was the best hair class I had ever taken, would be an understatement, as it was so much more than that. I connected so well with all of the stylists and the trainers, and I knew from that moment, this was what I was supposed to do!

As I was doing my thing here in Chico, I kept noticing people were moving on from the DKW salon, and I knew this was my chance. Shortly after, I emailed Ani, the lead trainer in Orange County, and the rest is history! I applied, and got the job!

Now here we are… and I’m so excited to keep moving up at the salon! I come back to Chico once a month, so keep me in mind and we will get together and get your hair lookin’ amazing!
